We’re guessing Obama would say… thanks?
by Laura Donovan At a Washington, D.C. concert on Monday night, pop star Madonna praised Martin Luther King Jr. and civil rights progress, leading her to demand the audience to support President Barack Obama, whom she sarcastically called the country’s “black Muslim in the White House.”
“It is amazing and incredible that we have an African American in the White House… Y’all better vote for fucking Obama, okay?” the seemingly loopy pop star said into the microphone. “For better or for worse, we have a black Muslim in the White House. Now that’s some amazing shit. It means there is hope in this country, and Obama is fighting for gay rights, okay? Support the man, God damn it!”
The entertainer may have done the Democratic presidential contender a favor by encouraging others to stand behind him, but if her tone wasn’t actually sarcastic, then she didn’t have her facts straight. Obama has said time and time again that he is a Christian, but of course, the celebrity was most likely being facetious and knocking on those who have repeatedly declared him a “secret” Islamic radical.
Who knows? I’m not even going to pretend to understand the mind of Madonna or other sarcastic starlets.
